I LOVE beginnings. The start of the new year is one of my favorite times - all the resolutions and projects that are just waiting to begin! Everything is full of crazy optimistic potential. No matter how long my list of improvements for the next year is, I will maintain all of them! Really. It could happen this time.
My New Year’s resolutions:
1. I will only buy craft supplies with money I earn from selling crafts...or if my loving family and friends give me gift certificates.
While I’m sure that your craft stash is reasonably sized and all currently assigned to a project...mine is not. I have this bad habit of blacking out when I enter a craft store and not coming to until after I’ve handed over my credit card. This has unfortunately resulted in my craft stash filling my bedroom and a corner of my dining room (much to my room mate’s chagrin).
2. I will knit my way through the incredibly daunting Vogue Knitting 2011 Stitch-a-day Calendar that my sister got me for Christmas.
I’m not crazy enough to think that I’ll be able to keep up with each day...but I will try not to get too far behind. Also, I’m only going to make little swatches of each that can later be combined into a throw. The point here is to learn the techniques.
3. I will learn how to do color work in knitting. I love the way fair isle looks and this year I’m going to make it. Maybe in a pair of gloves...maybe a hat. I’m definitely going to start little though.
4. I will cook more and eat less fast food. ::sigh:: Fast food is a reoccurring theme in my life that I really could do without.
5. I will loose weight. Actually I will loose a total of 30 lbs. Last year I lost 15 lbs starting in April so hopefully I’ll be able to carry over those healthy habits that took me nearly a year to develop.
6. I will start designing and publishing patterns. I’ve already started this last night by finally posting the scarf pattern designed for my Dad for Christmas.
For the pattern, check out Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/daddys-scarf-2.
and...
7. I will maintain a blog for the entire year! I’ve started a few (4 in total) blogs before. But THIS time I’ve brought in reinforcements - my sister! We are a crafty duo and since we will both be posting I think this blog has a good chance of making it.
Here’s to a happy new year of crafting!
